Hello everyone!

Sorry I've abandoned my blog for more than 3weeks. I guess that's what most food bloggers'd have experienced because it really isn't easy to maintain a food blog! From the baking to the photography to the editing of pics to the posting...... Yeah, you know what I mean!

For me, it's not an issue about my passion for baking  But, the lack of diligence to carry my DSLR again! In fact, I've baked S'mores, Chocolate Cherry Pie, Peanut Butter Tart, Chocolate Souffle and Strawberry Swirl Cheesecake over the past few weeks! Oh and S'mores did live up to their name, I baked them TWICE because they were that good :D

Anyhow the holidays have been really well-spent with me juggling my part time job, having fun at BBQs, going out with friends, eating...! I had a lot of fun! The main climax of my January though, must have been the release of my O'levels results on the 11th and the 4days period to decide on my future. Haha, yes it's as serious as I made it sound like!

There's something I've never blogged about publicly - my plan to further my studies in Pastry Arts (in New York). The past one year of close contact with my culinary school has been almost close to success until the release of my results. (They needed my proof of graduation from High School Diploma too) The contradicting issue was that, my results were so good (okay, it wasn't straight As but it's definetely better than I thought!) that if I didn't opt to study in Junior College, there'd be a very huge part of me feeling the omg-what-a-waste-of-my-results! LOL. Also, I was going to think that my childhood is incomplete forever because.....

BECAUSE I WANTED TO WEAR SCHOOL UNIFORM! Hah :D

OK. You get what I mean, right? My parents were really happy for me too. But at the same time, I was sure that if I enter JC, I'd be giving up on my dream career forever. I'd be going to Uni after JC. I'd not be studying 'baking&pastry' in Uni. I'd not be baking everyday. & I'd been hugging my heavy books about boring rubbish even in my sleep. I'd be doing nonsense to my own life that has been..... pretty well layout initially?

The 4days of troubled heart, I came out with the best decision. I discussed with my mum and felt that I've to complete my childhood. I've to wear my JC uniform! But I'm still going to study Pastry Arts. I delayed my March Pastry Arts course to the May one and I'd be attending college until it's time for me to leave Singapore :) Furthermore my culinary school needed my HS Diploma Cert which my school will only receive from Cambridge in late March/April.

So now I have many boxes of Farewell cookies, each consisting of Banana Hello Dollies, Walnut Brownies and Milk Chocolate Chunk Cookies for my basketball teammates who will all be going different schools, my close friends, and my high school teachers! The college posting results would be out tomorrow morning and orientation is likely to begin the very next day :D

Here are the recipes:

Milk Chocolate Chunk Cookies
Bakers' One Bowl Brownies
Banana Hello Dollies (follow the same recipe, but mash 3 medium size bananas and combine with condensed milk)

Congrats on your brilliant O'lvl results! (:
I think it's admirable that you have such a strong clear goal in life and its lucky you can have the best of both worlds by going to a jc and doing your pastry course in NY! Hahah keep on baking and all the best!! Laughing out loud

It sounds like you've had a lot to ponder lately. Luckily for you, the choices were both good ones, so you probably couldn't have made a bad choice. Plus, sounds like your mom was supportive, which always helps when weighing the options. But, by the looks of these delicious farewell goodies, you definitely need to be baking! Good luck with all of your schooling, and keep the wonderful pastries coming.

Anyway, I found you through TasteSpotting and am writing to say that if you have any photos that aren’t accepted there, I’d love to publish them. Visit my site (below), it’s a lot of fun! I hope you will consider it.

Best,
Casey

I'm in awe of your talent! You're an amazing baker and photographer. I'm EXTREMELY jealous of your plans to study culinary arts in New York. It's by far my most favourite city in the world.

I also wanted to say that I admire your decisions. It's not easy choosing what you want to do... I'm a university student in Canada, and deciding to go to University instead of studying something on the creative side was a really hard decision. Congrats though on doing so well in school! It's obvious you'll go far in whatever you choose!

Wow! Those boxes look amazing! Wish I had one too. You're an amazing baker and I hope you get to fulfill
all your wishes, both academic and culinary. Good luck in whatever you undertake : )
