I don't know how many of you ever wondered why my blog URL is "caketree". Haha! It's actually a term that came to me last year, something along the line that when I think of an apple tree growing apples, a cake tree would grow cakes! Imagine....
Plus I love the word 'tree'. It resembles plants, greenery and nature which are all the things that interest me (& also the only reason why I studied Geography for 'O'levels, painstakingly memorizing the characteristics and features of various vegetation LOL).

So apparently I had always wanted to do a 'photo shoot' on nature and the chance didn't come until today.
I figure out that I really need to take the day off to do something I'll enjoy: photography & eating! In fact today is my first 'photo shoot' using my new DSLR lens - Sony 30mm Macro F2.8 SGD$319 (the 50mm Macro F2.8 cost SGD$769 which is more than twice of the one I bought!). It's a cheap, light and humble macro lens that I've to say I'm pleased with its performance for the price I've paid for it!

I decided to spend my afternoon at Dempsey since it has the lush greenery and relaxing ambience. Exactly the place I'd want to do my photo-taking AND where I can do the eating, too :DD
My brother and I settled for PS. Cafe along Harding Road where the cafe is next to the trees and field. We took the outdoor seating so that I can take pictures with plenty of natural light.

Although it is not stated what kind of food is served there, I'd believe it to be American Food. The portion are seriously impressive and a little too much even for my brother who was already famished when we arrived there.

My brother's Steak and Fries. Char grilled ribeye served with portobello mushroom ragout, cafe de paris butter & herbed shoestring fries. It was good but not very fantastic. He loved the salad a lot though!

Mine! PS. Fish & Chips. Crispy beer battered fish fillets, chunky fries, cos and veggie sticks served with homemade tartar sauce & kaffir lime aioli.

A close up :) I like mine, and i've to say their sauce are very unique!

My brother's dessert: Lemon steamed pudding with homemade lemon custard sauce. The taste was really tangy, perfect who those craving for something acidic. Very nice presentation too, don't you think so?

My dessert, Ultimate fudgy brownies. I love the brownie warm and served with vanilla ice cream. The thick chocolate ganache above the marshmallow was the winner. It was SO SOO good :) Needless to say, it was another gigantic portion that I couldn't finish eventually =\
On a summary, their service was excellent and we really love the dining ambience! The food however was simply too much for us. We prefer every course of the meal smaller and lighter. We spent $120 there on 2 main course, 2 desserts & 2 drinks. I'd leave it to you to decide whether the price justify the quality of food!
